Hi all,

I'm 31. Have gambled since the age of 18. Mostly the tab but sometimes the Casino. When I'm winning I feel reaffirmed that my actions are ok, when I am losing I feel like the world has fallen out beneath ,me until my next pay. I currently have two short term loans. A beautiful partner who doesn't know how much I gamble.
I know that from what I have gambled over the years I should have a house deposit. But I am still in the mind frame that I can win a house deposit.
Anyone been here?

Thanks

Hi gfm164,
Good to hear from you - I'm sorry to hear that things have not been going well lately. It sounds like you are in a really good stage of change, in that you are reaching out for support and advice about how to make some changes with your gambling.
It sounds like there is a part of you that wants to stop gambling, and a part that wants to keep gambling - that is really normal - sounds like when you are winning, there is a real sense of excitement and a rush, which is what keeps it going. The other thing that keeps it going is the belief that you can make money from gambling - that it is possible to win enough to start again. Is that right?
It will be really helpful for you to engage with other members on the forum and share some of your experiences - I would also recommend that you call the Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858 to chat to a counsellor - it can be very helpful to get some expert advice and support.
looking forward to hearing from you.
all the best,
Counsellor Sam
